A Panerai Watch for Life by ajaxblogger

A few years ago my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. It was everywhere, and was worst in his brain, his heart and his lungs. Devastated though he was, he received the best treatment money could buy, undergoing surgeries and chemo to eradicate the disease from his body. He was a real fighter, grampa. And although he lasted more than three years, when they gave him just three months to live, the cancer proved stronger.

Before he died, he gave me one of his watches. It was a luxury watch, a beautiful Panerai watch with a brown wristband, and a weathered gold face. He told me that he would hold on to it, so that it would be safe. But I wanted to wear the watch in good health, and I took it. A few weeks later, grampa died, and quite honestly, I thought that maybe it was my fault, maybe if I had left the watch with him, he would have stayed alive longer. That maybe, when I took the watch, it was like taking his soul, and he left the world without once it was gone.

I don’t feel that way any more of course. But sometimes I think about gramps, and hope that he’s looking down on me wearing his Panerai watch.

Wearing a luxury watch is not something that everyone can say they have done. If you are looking for Patek Phillippe watches, Panerai watches, A Lange watches, Audemars Piguet watches, or any other designer watches, then there are a few things you should know.

You wear your watch to the office and out to dinner underneath a nice suit and shirt. When you want to know the time, the proper way of examining your watch is: with your right hand, pull back your sleeve and examine your watch by pulling it close enough to your face so that you can see it.

Be careful not to bang your watch against walls or the sides of doors when you are walking. Especially with watches made of gold or with precious stones around the face, you should be careful with how your treat your timepiece. A luxury watch is made with great skill and is of a high quality, but that doesn’t mean that you can treat it like anything less than a fine piece of machinery, which is exactly what it is.

Above all, don’t be afraid to remove your watch from time to time. It may be your baby, but even babies need time to rest.

When the average person is asked what the best luxury watch brand is, Rolex is typically the first thing out their mouth.

Many are unaware of the equally superior, if not better quality watches on the market today. For whatever reason, the epitome of luxury watches in pop culture has always been the Rolex. It is a great watch brand, but no where near the best. Here are some myths debunked about the Rolex.

Myth 1: Rolex watches are individually hand-made. Actually, most Rolexes are mass-produced by highly effective machines in a factory, using methods developed and patented by Rolex. However, they do have very high-end models that are hand crafted.

Myth 2: Rolex watches are the most accurate in the world. It has been said that a $25 dollar Casio will tell time just as accurately as a Rolex. You are spending money on the extra jewelry features of the watch. So if you’re looking primarily for a designer watch with aesthetic value, a Rolex is sure to please.

Myth 3: A Rolex watch takes a year to make. This has been claimed in their ad campaign, mainly to give you the romantic allusion that your watch has been painstakingly hand-crafted instead of being mass-produced.

Despite these myths, Rolex is a great watch brand and a fantastic purchase if you are looking for designer watches that look phenomenal.

Patek Philippe Watches for the Business Executive by ajaxblogger

These days, we’re surrounded by the time in so many different formats. The time is displayed on our laptop and desktop computers and on our cell phones and Blackberries. As a business executive, I’m attached to my phones and computers day and night, but I always prefer to refer to my Patek Philippe watch for the time. I think it’s because clocks and watches are classic timepieces, and they’ll never go out of fashion, despite the rise of digital technology. I’m fascinated by the history of watches, and I have to admit, I’ve done a little research.

“Clock-watches” came about in the 16th century in Europe; their ability to tell time was poor, and were mainly made as fashion accessories for the nobility to wear. Fortunately, nowadays, watches are functional and stylish. My wife gave me my Patek Phillipe Calatrava with Diamond Bezel watch as a birthday present a few years ago, and it never lets me down. It has a comfortable black leather strap, a scratch resistant glass surface, and is beautifully studded with a silver diamond dial. Patek Phillipe watches may be expensive, but they will last a lifetime and stay in the family for generations to come. I’ll pass my watch onto my son, and hope he’ll pass it onto his.
